Remote Access with Aruba Networks

A lot of questions now reside on connecting the home user or remote offices in an easy efficient manner.  In the past, client based IPSEC tunnels were the norm, however as the industry matured and more people become remote office workers/home employees, managing the IPSec software client becomes a troublesome over head.   Now the market tends to focus on clienteless connectivity to provide secure access.

Now add some user complexity in that they want the ease of mobility at home – being accustomed to work or consumer based WLAN.  Managing user expectations and corporate policies becomes a huge headache!

Arubas Virtual Branch Networking or RAP-2 Family extend corporate access to the edge.  Aruba,  really a mobility company, with their RAP-2 creates a IPSec VPN with corporate, coupled with corporates WLAN policiy.  The RAP2 can extend any 2-7 layer functionality to the edge, as well as the corporate SSID, there for enabling your employees laptop with corporate WLAN access extended to their home.

The RAP-2  device simply plugs into your home switch/router and creates (phones home) an IPSec VPN tunnel to corporate.  Here is a video on a home office solution incorporating Aruba’s Rap2 product.
