If your company is concerned with saving power and looking at ways to achieve this from an IT and communications perspective (one of the biggest power consumers in organizations today) let us know.  We can share some of Avaya (xNortel) energy consumption metrics.

As well, I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Jean Turgeon of Avaya’s Data Portfolio and discuss Greening of their Data portfolio.[singlepic id=16 w=320 h=240 float=left].

As of last year (2008) Nortel had released a Green IT Strategy focused on Cisco’s HUGE power consumption, and highlighting the fact that Nortel’s data portfolio can save you up to 40% on engergy costs “Stop paying the Cisco TAX”.

They also provided an energy calculator (nortel-energy-efficiency-calculator) and have proven statistics by Tolly (here is the podcast).

JT (Jean Turgeon) also metioned that Nortel would be providing the ability to power down ports on their switches during off/non-business hours.  Coupled with the industry leading power saving capabilities, it provides very substantial cost savings for you, and for your organization.
