Avaya WLAN 8100 Series
Legacy Nortel had a few hiccups (to say the least) with the release of a few WLAN products in the past. And with the buyout of Nortel by Avaya, development on their new WLAN infrastructure was long awaited.
Avaya recently announced their new 2300 and 8100 series WLAN 802.11 solutions: here is some info and a video from Interop a few weeks ago.
WLAN 8100
Series combines the latest industry 802.11n standard with a new truly-unified wireless/wired architecture, enabling enterprises to achieve new levels of workforce productivity and operational efficiency. The WLAN 8100 Series offers [singlepic id=53 w=320 h=240 float=left]greater wireless capacity, performance, and coverage through 802.11n and lower Total Cost of Ownership through a simplified network infrastructure. It is optimized to support real time applications such as voice, UC and video.
The 8100 Series is optimized for voice and multimedia applications. It offers VIEW Certification, end-to-end mapping of QoS, Advanced Call Admission Control algorithms, and small-packet-optimized AP design.
The series offers common network access security capabilities that can be set for all users/devices, both wired and wireless. As well, 802.11n wireless supports access at speeds three to six times faster than 802.11 a/b/g connections, improving the performance of voice and other real-time applications
