Avaya Flare, the face of SIP, has founds its way to the IPAD. Avaya came out a few months back with their Avaya Flare device, and without a doubt a great success from a Unified Communications perspective. However the hardware geeks found the release to be a little annoying.

With the release of the AVDV – that Avaya Tablet, some of the market took officense to having “another” tablet on the market, especially one from an enterprise voice manufacture.
Where does Avaya fit in the tablet space…?
-Many asked.
If you looked close enough you would find that Avaya’s AVDV was developed ahead of its time, brining to market an Android based device with front facing video camera, hi-quality sound and really the ability to support their Flare application. At the time of the release there were no other devices toating the video, CPU and sound quality.
Looking even closer, at the time, you would have found that Flare - the application – was being developed for all leading OS products (IOS, Android, Windows). Supporting Avaya’s messaging of BYOD – Bring your Own Device.
Windows 7, the IPAD and Android have long been on the Avaya road-map for the Flare device and this most recent annoucement, the Flare on the IPAD, is proving Avaya’s commitment to their UC strategy. Segregating the Hardware from Communications, allowing the end user to choose their own platform and providing a unified communications environment that supports IM, Video, Presence, Voice, Email, & Directory.
Of course the IPAD has been available for beta for some time now, and I must admit, support for it here at Combat, has been delightful. We have been looking forward to this release for quite sometime.
